Cameo Theatre was an anthology series from the Golden Age of Television, created by Albert McCleery, and was an innovative experiment of early television programming. His techniques and ideas were to focus more on the story and actors than the scenery, making for more intense viewing. This half-hour format consisted of top notch scripts, both original and adaptations. Controversial topics and a flare to bring the stage to the small screen made this program different than the usual fare. Airing as summer replacement programming this show aired only three seasons to be brought back in 1955 for the fourth and final run.

Former child vaudevillian, producer and entertainer Ken Murray hosted this comedy/variety show for three seasons. Featuring a large cast, impresive sets and lots of beautiful "Glamourlovelies", Murray was very much an old time stage performer, sporting a fedora, cigar and cane. His trademark set was the corner of Hollywood and Vine. In an unusual twist for a mostly comedy show, he regularly featured a live performance of a dramatic scene from a play or movie. He had a soft spot for older vaudeville performers and had them on often and because he was much-loved Hollywood figure, he was able to get major stars to appear, sometimes simply in quick cameos.
