The Big Easy is an American crime drama series that was based on the 1987 film of the same name. The show premiered on the USA Network on August 11, 1996. Tony Crane played New Orleans police detective lieutenant Remy McSwain, Susan Walters played state district attorney Anne Osbourne and Barry Corbin played police chief C.D. LeBlanc. It was developed by Jacqueline Zambrano, based on the characters created by Daniel Petrie Jr., who wrote the screenplay to the film and also was the executive producer of the series. 35 episodes were broadcast over two seasons.

The show was hosted by Jimmy O'Neill, a disc jockey in Los Angeles at the time who also created the show along with his wife Sharon Sheeley and production executive Art Stolnitz. The original pilot was rejected by ABC and David Sontag, then Executive Producer of ABC, redeveloped and completely redesigned the show. A new pilot with a new cast of artists was shot starring Sam Cooke. That pilot aired as the premiere episode.

Singin' the Blues is a 1956 album by Jimmy Witherspoon. Witherspoon's session band included Harry Edison and Gerald Wilson on trumpet, Teddy Edwards and Jimmy Allen on tenor sax, Henry McDode and Hampton Hawes on piano, Herman Mitchell on rhythm guitar, Jimmy Hamilton on bass and Jimmy Miller on drums. The album was recorded for and released by Rip Records in 1956, and re-released in 1958 by World Pacific Records. The reissued album led the organizers of the 1959 Monterey Jazz Festival to include Witherspoon in the festival.
