Seriocomic story based on the memoir by Beverly Donofrio, the movie follows a young woman who finds her life radically altered by an event from her teen years. Born in 1950, Beverly grew up bright and ambitious in a working-class neighborhood in Connecticut; her father was a tough but good-hearted cop who listened to his daughter's problems, and her mother was a nervous woman eager to imagine the worst. From an early age, Beverly displays a keen intelligence and an interest in literature, and dreams of going to college in New York and becoming a writer. However, she also develops an early interest in boys, and at 15 finds herself madly in love with a boy from her high school. However, an attempt to get his attention leads to an embarassing incident at a party, and Ray, a sweet but thick-headed 18-year-old, steps forward to defend her. Beverly and Ray end up making out, and after one thing leads to another, Beverly discovers she's pregnant. Telling Ray is only marginally less difficult than informing her parents, and at 16, Beverly is a wife and mother. Against the odds, Beverly is determined to still finish high school and go on to college, but that goal becomes more difficult with time, especially after Beverly's marriage begins to fall apart. Ray tries to do the right thing but has trouble holding a job, and becomes addicted to heroin.

A best friend who is dying of leukemia, a coach ("Swifty") who takes unacceptable liberties with the boys on his team, teenage sexual angst, and an unhealthy appetite for heroin -- all of these begin to encroach on young Jim's dream of becoming a basketball star. Soon, the dark streets of New York become a refuge from his mother's mounting concern for her son. He can't go home and his only escape from the reality of the streets is heroin for which he steals, robs and prostitutes himself. Radio Flyer was directed by Richard Donner. It stars Stars Lorraine Bracco as Mary; Adam Baldwin as the King; Elijah Wood as Mike; and Joseph Mazello as Bobby. The movie begins with Tom Hanks playing an adult Mike. Watching his sons argue he decides it is time to tell them about a period of time in his childhood when he was living in the suburbs with his brother. He wants to teach them the importance of keeping promises. It is a movie about two little boys, 8 and 10 yr. old Bobby and Mike. It is set in the hills of Northern California where they live with their mother and stepfather. The stepfather is a sadistic beer drinking scumbag that beats Bobby across his back with a cord every time he gets drunk, and the mother is not home. This abuse started around the same time his mother married the King and continued on a regular basis. You never see his face, just his arm reaching for Bobby or a six pack, and you hear his voice yelling. Bobby makes Mike promise not to ever tell their mother because she is happy with this jerk. Mike promises and goes along with Bobby's plan to escape by turning his Radio Flyer wagon into an airplane and flying off a cliff. They got the idea from a legend about a kid named Fisher that flew off the same cliff on his bike. They really believed this happened, and Bobby thought it was the only way he could escape the King. Throughout the movie the little boys are exploring, having a great time finding the things they need to make the wagon into an airplane, and trying to stay away from the King. The movie goes from reality to fantasy and it is up to the audience to distinguish the difference.

Crime Story is an American television drama, created by Chuck Adamson and Gustave Reininger, that premiered in 1986 on NBC, where it ran for two seasons. The show premiered with a two-hour pilot—a movie which had been exhibited theatrically—and was watched by over 30 million viewers. It was scheduled to follow Miami Vice on Friday nights, continuing to attract a record number of viewers. NBC then moved the show to Tuesdays at 10 pm opposite ABC's Moonlighting, hurting its ratings to the point that NBC ordered its cancellation after only two seasons.
