It served as an audition for the Fox musical comedy series Glee, and the prize for the winner was a minimum seven-episode arc in the following season of the show. The show's first season premiered in the US on June 12, 2011, and concluded on August 21, 2011. In Canada, the series began airing on Slice on June 26, 2011, and in the UK, the series began airing on Sky 1 on July 14, 2011. A second season aired in the US from June 5 to August 14, 2012. In July 2013, it was announced that The Glee Project would not return for a third season.

The initial twelve-member cast included Matthew Morrison as club director and Spanish teacher Will Schuester, Jane Lynch as cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, Jayma Mays as guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury, Jessalyn Gilsig as Will's wife Terri, and Dianna Agron, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Mark Salling, and Jenna Ushkowitz as eight club members. The main cast was altered throughout the series.

The friends Jack, Allie, Sarah, Charlie, Michelle and Eric go to the Placid Pines Cemetery to play hide and seek in the tombs. Meanwhile their friend Bobby dresses like a masked killer to play a prank with Eric. However, the scared Eric runs trying to escape and stumbles, dying impaled over sharp bars. Bobby takes the blame alone for the deadly accident and spends five year in prison. When he goes to his parole hearing, Michelle testifies and he gets his probation. Michelle drives with Bobby to a camp nearby the graveyard where the tragedy happened to reunite their friends and resolve their issues. They are welcomed by the gentle grounds-keeper and cook Peter Bishop. Along the next hours, Jack's girlfriend Veronica is killed by a mysterious masked killer; then Sarah's former girlfriend Zoey is also murdered. When the group realizes what is happening, they find that they are trapped in the spot.

The X Factor is a British reality television music competition to find new singing talent. The contestants are aspiring singers drawn from public auditions. Created by Simon Cowell, the show began broadcasting on 4 September 2004 with 445 episodes broadcast over fifteen series as of 2 December 2018. The show is produced by Fremantle's Thames (previously Talkback Thames) and Cowell's production company Syco Entertainment. It is broadcast on the ITV network in the UK and simulcast on Virgin Media One in Ireland. "X Factor" refers to the undefinable "something" that makes for star quality. The series consists of auditions, bootcamp, judges' houses, several weeks of live shows, semi-finals and the final. The first three series were presented by Kate Thornton. Since series four, with the exception of series twelve (which was presented by Caroline Flack and Olly Murs), the show has been presented by Dermot O'Leary. The X Factor previously had a spin-off behind-the-scenes show called The Xtra Factor, which aired directly after the main show on ITV2. This lasted for the first thirteen series, but was cancelled by ITV in January 2017. It was replaced by an online spin-off show Xtra Bites exclusively on the ITV Hub.
