Still Open All Hours is a British sitcom created by Roy Clarke for the BBC set in Balby, Doncaster, starring David Jason. It is the sequel to the sitcom Open All Hours, which both Clarke and Jason worked on throughout its 26-episode run from 1973 to 1985, following a 40th Anniversary Special in December 2013 commemorating the original series. Like the original series, the story focuses on the life of Granville as he continues to run his late uncle Arkwright's shop, with the assistance of his son Leroy, while seeking to be with his love interest, Mavis. Unlike the original series, the cast included a more regular group of characters and additional side-plots concerning them, and features the return of Lynda Baron, Stephanie Cole, and Maggie Ollerenshaw as their respective characters in Open All Hours. So far, 41 episodes have aired across six series.

In 19th century Dublin, Albert Nobbs, an eccentric man in the latter part of middle age, works as a waiter in Morrison's Hotel run by the stingy and controlling Marge Baker. Albert is hard working and saves his money so that one day he will be able to eke out a better life for himself by owning his own business rather than work at the hotel. Beyond his work colleagues, he is all alone in the world. One day, a man named Hubert Page is hired by Mrs. Baker to paint one of the rooms in the hotel. She forces Hubert to share Albert's bed for the one night he is required to stay to complete the work, much to Albert's horror. Hubert discovers the reason Albert did not want to share a room with him. But rather than the issue being a problem, Hubert shows Albert that he can follow a slightly different life path than the one he envisioned for himself - one closer to the life that Hubert leads with his wife Cathleen - which includes getting married and having a wife to support him emotionally. Albert's choice as a bride is his younger flirtatious co-worker Helen Dawes, who, unknown to Albert, is already in a sexual relationship with the brusque and sly Joe Mackins, another co-worker recently arrived to Morrison's. As Albert, Helen and Joe play their respective games of courtship, Albert may find that what seemed to come naturally to Hubert may be more difficult for him.

Jonathan Stitch, having just won a prestigious MacKinlay Award …
Jonathan Stitch, having just won a prestigious MacKinlay Award for his first novel, relays how he came to ghost write the memoirs of beloved British game show host JJ Curtis, who worked hard to emerge from a humble background and achieve celebrity status, albeit in what most consider the most lowbrow end of popular culture. Jonathan realizes that he is not the most obvious choice of a writer for this project - it a job he didn't initially want - but he ends up viewing the job as a challenge to make it stand out from all the other minor celebrity memoirs, especially as reading about JJ would generally appeal only to a niche segment of the primarily British population, one that probably doesn't buy many books. Part of JJ's reason for wanting the book written is to increase his profile in order to sell his show to the lucrative US market. Despite being in the twilight of his career, JJ is denying something about his life that would make the sale of the show to a US distributor a moot point. But the biggest issue for JJ, and by association Jonathan, in these two combined projects succeeding is twenty-seven year old Dave Turner, a fellow British game show host. Dave and his show are hipper, edgier, and more vulgar, in addition to Dave being younger and sexier, and is thus the front runner for the Britain to US game show transplant. Despite JJ having given Dave his first big break five years ago, there is now no love lost between the two. They each do whatever they can not only to better the other, but to ruin the other at whatever cost, not really caring about the collateral damage. Through the process, Jonathan has to wade through the rhetoric on both sides for the truth, he somewhat caught in the situation by a momentary encounter he has with someone he will learn is a physician named Dr. Colworth.
