Animal Farm opens with a horse named Jessie and several other animals on their way back to Manor farm. Jessie and company were chased out of the farm after a revolt led by pigs. We are then taken via flashback back to the time when manor farm was ruled by the evil Mr. Jones. During one night a wise old pig called "The Old Major," starts talking about an old idea about "The beasts of England." The animals are moved, but just as everything is going fine, Mr. Jones appears. One thing leads to another and his gun goes off killing Old Major and stirring the animals wrath. Mr. Jones forgets to feed the animals and they go to the shed where the food is kept. Mr. Jones and his men find out about this and they try to fight back. However, the animals gain the upper hand and force the men away from the farm. The farm now under the control of the animals is renamed Animal Farm. Things quickly start going south when neighboring farmer Mr. Pilkington attempts to invade the farm. However, the pigs, have planned for the attack and Mr. Pilkington leaves empty handed. Meanwhile the animals are working on a windmill to help make work easier. Jones, still mad over the animals taking over his farm, blows up the windmill with dynamite, forcing the animals to rebuild it. However, by now the pigs are proving to be extremely shrewd animals who are just as cruel as the humans that they replaced. Boxer is sent to the slaughterhouse and the pigs tell the other animals that he was sent to the hospital. The pigs start walking on two legs and commandments are changed to put the power in the hands of the pigs. The pigs then form an alliance with Mr. Pilkington. Finally, while the pigs declare freedom, Jessie and several other animals leave. Back in the present Jessie and the animals arrive at the abandoned farm and decide to rebuild it by working together.
