On the way, he finds a steam pipe and utilizes it to cauterize his cut leg. At present day, Ryan and Brad awaken in a store window in a shopping mall in front of an audience while their wrist is tied to a worktable. Facing them is a saw and their mutual love interest, Dina, who is raised on top of a third one. Jigsaw's puppet informs them that they have to make a choice between their lives or Dina's life. After contemplating for a bit and realizing Dina's disloyalty, Ryan and Brad decide to save themselves, which drops Dina into a buzz saw and eventually killing her. After Mark Hoffman survives from the end of the last Saw installment, Jill Tuck visits Matt Gibson, an internal affairs officer at Hoffman's detention branch, and offers to incriminate Hoffman in exchange for immunity and law enforcement protection. Meanwhile, Hoffman continues to kill innocent people until Jill is surrendered to him. He sends videos to the internal affairs detective, Gibson, and offers hidden messages regarding his whereabouts. The detective eventually figures out Hoffman's location and sends in a unit to kill him. Unfortunately, their efforts are of no avail when the entire team is killed through a gas chamber.

Eric feels that he can't be openly gay as an ex-hockey player or as a public figure still associated with professional hockey. Eric and Sam's life is turned upside down when they take temporary custody of Scot Latour, whose drug addict mother, Julie, recently passed away from a drug overdose. Julie assigned custody of Scot to her ex-boyfriend, Billy, who is Sam's deadbeat brother. Sam is certain that Billy will eventually come for Scot when he learns that Julie's insurance money also comes with custody. Having only had Julie's influence in his life, Scot is a flamboyant adolescent, who wears make-up, a feather boa and his mother's charm bracelet, and who loves musicals and singing Christmas carols. As they all wait for Billy's arrival, Eric, despite not being Scot's father, and Scot have to figure out how to come to terms with each other - Scot being a boy who expresses himself freely whatever the consequences, and Eric always being concerned about maintaining a macho exterior - within their temporary guardian/charge relationship.

The series was produced under the guidance of his widow, Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, who possessed notes kept by Roddenberry that would provide the conceptual basis for the series. It ran for five seasons between October 6, 1997 and May 20, 2002.

Tales from the Cryptkeeper is an animated horror children's television series made by Nelvana. It was shown on YTV in Canada and on ABC in the United States. It was based on the 1950s EC Comics series Tales from the Crypt and the live action television series of the same name, which aired concurrently on HBO. Made for children, Tales from the Cryptkeeper was significantly milder than its live action HBO counterpart and all blood and gore were completely omitted in order to target the audience.
