Starring Christopher Walken as mercenary Jamie Shannon the film opens with him and his group make a daring escape from violent war-riddled Central America by forcing their way on a government civilian aircraft. They have obviously been through a harrowing experience to do with their mercenary work. On returning home Shannon gets an offer from a businessman who wants to secure mining interests in an African nation. Shannon is asked reconnoiter and return with information valuable to the business for a price. He is captured and tortured as a spy, however, by the totalitarian dictator General and his police force. Released and deported he returns to tell the businessman that there is no chance for coup and is summarily offered a huge sum to foment the impossible coup.
