The mission of the Fort Worth Zoo is to strengthen the bond between humans and the environment by promoting responsible stewardship of wildlife and ensuring diverse, high-quality educational and entertaining family experiences through effective and efficient management of its resources. The Fort Worth Zoo was recently named the No. 1 zoo in America by a 2020 USA Today Readers' Choice poll.

Easily the best zoo I have been to! Arrived at opening to beat the heat/crowds and it went well - we did have two school groups visiting which added to the crowds but that is hard to plan for. Happy,… Full review by agpierce

Yes, plenty of mobility vehicles at the zoo, slopes and wide pavement.

Does it have a large open wooded area? Can I go bird/wildlife watching there aside from the caged animals?

Whilst we were there we saw lots of native wildlife in the surrounding trees as well as the zoo animals but not in a dedicated woodland area Hope this helps

Yes. They rent them for the day for $30 each. The rental booth is just inside the entry booths.
