This was our first time going to Oakland zoo. We’ve been to Fresno numerous times (also nice) and Sacramento once (average) and we were very pleasantly surprised at how nice and large Oakland zoo is.… Full review by Kyle_10

Wonderful wonderful ! For a “smaller “ zoo there is so much! You can tell the love for the zoo, animals, guests. Clean and fun and safe. There’s an overhead tram and little train too. Full review by bad33326

The annual Oakland Zoo "Walk in the Wild" fundraiser provides a chance to stroll through the zoo, which has made tremendous strides in improving its habitats and animal care, while partaking in a wide variety of foods, wines, and beers from local purveyors. Established in 1922, it is managed by the Conservation Society of California, a 5013 non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of wildlife both locally and globally. The Zoo is home to over 700 native and exotic animals. It's recognized for its outstanding animal care, particularly its elephant care program, and for its Leed-certified, 17,000 square foot, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital—the largest wild animal veterinary facility in Northern California. On July 12, 2018, the Oakland Zoo opened the California Trail to the public, focusing on this state's remarkable native wildlife—both past and present.
