Housing more than 300 aircraft and spacecraft, this is one of the largest air and space museums in the world. Visitors see some of the most historic crafts, including an X-15A-2 and several Russian MiGs, which have been used by the Soviet and Russian army since the 1940s. You can also tour the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group. Known fondly as the "Boneyard," this facility features dozens of out-of-work aircraft, lined up under the desert sun. Recent visitors described the museum as "fascinating" and praised the on-site volunteers for their extensive knowledge of each plane's historical significance. Reviewers also noted this was a great educational stop for the kids and highly recommended forking over a little extra coin to take the "Boneyard" tour. Perched near the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in southeast Tucson, the Pima Air & Space Museum is open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Entry to the museum costs $15.50 for adults 13 and older, $9 for youths ages 5 to 12 and is free for children 4 and younger. Kennedy's Air Force One, and presidential aircraft used by president's Nixon and Johnson. The Museum has five large hangars totaling more than 177,000 feet of exhibit space. In addition, the 390th Bombardment Group Memorial Museum is located on the Museum grounds. Pima Air & Space maintains its own aircraft restoration center, and is also proud to offer exclusive tours of the Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group, also known as the "Boneyard," located across the street at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

Aviation buffs, this one's for you. The Museum opened to the public in May, 1976, with 75 aircraft on display. Since then the collection has grown to over 250 aircraft occupying 80 acres of land. The entire museum property covers about 150 acres. One plane of interest is the Lockheed Tristar, used by John Kennedy as Air Force One on short flights or flights to small airports. This museum also operates the Titan Missile Museum. Package admissions to both sites are available. This is a great family-friendly attraction that gives kids a close-up look at some of the most historic aircraft in the country.
