Beautiful forest, definitely one fo the worlds natural wonders. The redwoods are a very unique forest and the lush trails will take you from massive trees all the way to the oceans edge. If you have … Full review by TravelingSwan12211

We reached the park at about 11.00am, paid the toll, drove in parked at a parking spot. Tall, majestic trees, there is a streem flowing and we went down to see if there were any fish, but none. Then … Full review by Chachan321

Hello. My family is planning to camp at Butano State park for a couple of nights in July. My only concern is the drive there (from Sacramento) and the drive from the park to the beach. We have a large 15 seater van and will be towing a trailer, AND I have a fear of heights (especially narrow windy roads on the edges of ravines or cliffs with very little railing, etc). Even a 10 foot drop at the side will make me severely panic and wish I were dead if it looked like our car or trailer could slip over the edge. Will I hate this drive? Please be honest and don't sugar coat it! Also, please warn if there are any shortcuts or alternate routes we should avoid, or hikes that I will also hate. Thank you!!! ~Jennifer

I was just visiting Butano and there are many situations while driving to butano where you will have a large drop on your right side that leads down to the ocean, very beautiful but in your situation prob not so much. Additionally in the park you have to climb a narrow road with drops on the side to get to the campsite. Hikes from the campsite involve many hills and drips as well.

Campground should be open but check with State Parks to verify. They may not have bathrooms open and just porta potties. The campground is on a hill and not sure about bike riding. It is also under the redwoods, so bundle up.
