I can't believe there aren't more reviews on this place. It is our favorite place to take the boat in NM. The lake is huge and never busy like Elephant Butte. We prefer to camp at the Cottonwood camp… Full review by FamilyTravelersx4

Along the San Juan river below the dam fly fishing and parking in parking lots fill out information on envelope and honor system paying parking fees and put in the pay tube. Parking around the dam on both sides has been free parking in parking feelots and walk down steep trail to get to the lake. There is a beach near the marina mostly gravel and it fills up on weekends most of the campsites are on a cliff over looking the lake you can hike down to the water or drive to the marina
