I don’t know about the cabins on the campground side. What I understood the train conductor to be referring to were the cabins on the display side, one of those is original and dates to 1770. There were 3 timber framed buildings in the light display area that we walked through and one of those is the original 1770 building.

Yes, the campgrounds are secure. The area it is in is small southern town. They take pride in how they keep the campgrounds.

Not sure if you are talking weapon or alcohol. Did not need a weapon while there, but did take drinks around the park.
