LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP is located in the southwestern portion o Michigan's Lower Peninsula in Van Buren County. It includes the Village of Lawrence within its boundaries. LAWRENCE is a small town in the heart of the United States and was established by settlers 200 years ago. The wide spaces surrounding the town were perfectly suited for growing crops and fruit and thus, the temporary settlement quickly grew into a small village that thrived on agriculture. Today, most of the residents of LAWRENCE work in nearby cities, and much of the original farm land is farmed by larger corporate farms . The town's charm, however, has remained unchanged. LAWRENCE sees itself as a typical small town where neighbors greet each other and take care of each other. We are proud of living in such a strong and caring community.
