We loved this gorgeous trail! We could walk to it from our cabin. A nice easy walk with some slopes, nothing too steep. Beautiful scenery! I took tons of pics! Then we went back and walked it again t… Full review by shenry1313

Very neat trail, one of two that dogs are allowed on in the Smokies. Nice and soothing stroll beside the river. Only negative is that you have to walk alongside the road for a little while and there’… Full review by akief8795

Nice trail, not very crowded compared to the rest of the park. Also, very few bugs, which was a nice surprise. Full review by Scott B
Is the trail easy to follow, I don’t want to accidentally take a wrong path (if there are any) and get lost, that may be terrifying.

This is a very easy trail. If you start at the trailhead at the end of River Road in Gatlinburg, it actually goes to the Sugarland Visitor Center. The wooded portion of the trail ends at the park maintenance facility. There is still .4 miles along this side road to get to the visitor center. Just before getting to hwy 441, you will see a sidewalk on the right. It goes past the Park Headquarters and continues to the visitor center. The trail is flat for the most part with very nice river views. It is 4 miles roundtrip but you could always have someone in a car meet you at the visitor center or vice versa if you start at the visitor center. During the summer months, a trolley goes to the visitor center which you could also take if you did not want to walk both directions. Of course, you can walk as much or as little of the trail as you like. Enjoy.

Do we drive to the visitor's center and then hike from there? Thanks!

You can, but we did not. We parked at the other end of the trail. There is an entrance and small parking area near town. We walked back toward the Visitors Center. Very nice trail suitable for first time and "out of shape" hikers.
