It is difficult to find many areas around Telluride that are not breathtaking and the Jud Wiebe Trail is certainly no exception.

We chose to go counterclockwise. It was a slow climb of 1,300 feet with many beautiful views of downtown Telluride. The trail up and down is a bit rocky. It is easy to access from town is you arri… Full review by kenapastore

This was the most recommended trail by locals whenever I asked about hiking while in town with my bestie on a girl's trip last summer. She was sick one afternoon so I set off on my own from our hot… Full review by VaFoodie35

I am planning to include this trail when we visit Telluride next week. Does it make a difference if the trail is walked clockwise or counter-clockwise. All Trails lists this as a difficult trail and strenuous. I do not regularly hike (ex. not hike each week) but we enjoy hiking. I like to get your thoughts. Thanks

Yes, it does make a difference. If you start from Aspen the trail is steeper at the beginning. If you start at Oak St, you are still going uphill but it's not quite as steep. If you walk counterclockwise, walk up Oak St and turn right on Tomboy Road. It's a dirt road that runs behind homes. Once you see the water treatment plant on your right, go left to the switchback. Do make sure you turn left and don't continue straight because you will end up hiking Tomboy Road as it doesn't connect again with Jud Wiebe. You will hike several switchbacks before you reach the bridge that will take you through the Aspens. It's a great hike. Going both directions are challenging, but it's less challenging starting from Oak. Don't forget to hike the short trail to the Cornet Creek Falls. This starts at the beginning of Jud Wiebe from Aspen Street. If you do Jud Wiebe counterclockwise from Oak, after you cross the last bridge you would go left. Do be advised that there are several sections where this trail is steep and there could be some loose dirt or rocks, but it's worth it to take the short hike to see it. Enjoy your time in Telluride!

I have only seen a few dogs on Jud Wiebe but the best hike for dogs would be the Bear Creek Trail. There's several areas where they can get wet crossing streams. The trail is wide and should be easy on their feet. Another short good trail for dogs is the Ridge Trail from St. Sophia station. We also like to take our dog on the trail that runs along Mountain Village Drive near the Golf Course. This trail is narrow and there's more runners so I would advise keeping your dog close. The River Trail in downtown Telluride is also nice, but full of people during the summer. Hope this helps!

Q:
how is it possible to get TripAdvisor to change the name of the trail, within this review's title? It's "Jud" Wiebe, not Jed.
A:
Good question, don't know the answer, though.
