From Tetlin Junction to Dawson City, it’s a great drive. Paved most of the way to Chicken, and a decent gravel road to Dawson City, views are wonderful. Be sure to visit Chicken while on the way: gas… Full review by filmg

Hi, I am planning to travel the Alaska highway in the middle of June and after seeing Alaska would like to travel back from Dawson City early July. Would it possible for a goldwing to go over the top of the world on a motorcycle? Thanks for any advice. Jim

We will be including this highway on our trip to Alaska this year. We will only be using this highway either going to Alaska or coming home. Any recommendation on which direction would be best experience? Dawson to Chicken, or Chicken to Dawson? Curious, if it makes a difference. Thanks for any info!

Also, with the border crossing, there’s a 1 hr time difference. The crossing to Alaska is on US time so they are 1 hr ahead. Get there at 8pm BC time & they’ll be closed. And vice versa
What time of year did you travel? We will be coming back from Inuvik Sept 4 and doing the Top of the World Highway. Can you suggest points to boondock from Tok to Haines Junction? Thanks Rick

We are currently traveling, we were at TOW about three weeks ago. The border closes at 8pm Alaskan time & opens at 8am (9-9 Canadian) there are several pullouts near lakes & glacial fields to boondock. You won’t have any problems there. In Haines there are many places to boondock in the open park along the hwy or in pullouts at lakes or the Icefield.
