There are certainly wasps on Skye, but I would expect to see not many in May, slightly more in June. Worst time is August and late summer, where there are a lot. If you are concerned, I'm sure you can call the local hospital and request advice, I'm sure you could make safe contingency plan. I grew up there and was stung only once as a child, which included water bombing and setting fire to wasps nests. The risk is very small.

In my opinion it's the best time of the year to visit the West coast of Scotland. Parking is limited down by the pier and it's a steep hill from upper car parks. But you could drop of less abled before parking. You can be helped on and off the boat. Once you get to Loch Cruisk it's a flight of steps and then a relatively short 400m walk from sea to Loch. Al tg Hough flat it's over a rocks. We saw older people helped and they made it. I would recommend short 1hr stay. Hope this helps.

We are staying in Portree on the 6th and have not booked anywhere to stay on the 5th at this time and will be driving over from Kingussie. We would like to see the Fairy Pools, Old Man of Storr and Quiraing over the weekend as time allows and the boat tour would be an added bonus! Thank you, Thomas Youngblood -
