Slower demand for some types of cheese pushed the U.S. supply to record end of May levels. The USDA says natural cheese stocks at the end of last month were 1.512 billion pounds, up 4% on the year, even as cheese production for the month was mostly below a year ago. That included the largest monthly supply on record for non-American types of cheese, primarily Italian-style, cream, Hispanic, and brick cheeses.

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese is changing its name after 85 years. The household staple is now called Kraft Mac & Cheese, which is “meant to reflect the way fans organically talk about the brand,” the company announced Wednesday. Packaging featuring the new name will hit shelves in August. Along with the shortened named, shoppers will notice the box receiving a subtle makeover that includes a refreshed logo, typography and single-hue blue that “amplifies the brand’s most recognizable asset — the noodle smile.”

U.S. export sales continue to face some strong headwinds. That’s due to several factors, including recent relative strength in the U.S. dollar, seasonal trends, including Brazil’s record soybean crop hitting the market, and high prices. The USDA says old crop soybean, soybean meal, and cotton sales during the week ending June 16 th were marketing year lows, with soybean oil, pork, beef, and rice also down on the week.

The Global Dairy Index fell 1.3% in Tuesday’s trade. Gains in butter and skim milk powder were more than offset by losses including a 9% drop in cheddar cheese. Butter was up 2.4% to $6,213 a metric ton or $2.81 per pound. Skim milk powder gained 1% to $4,276 a ton or $1.93 per pound. Whole milk powder fell six-tenths of a percent to $4,125 a ton or $1.87 per pound.

Krispy Kreme’s signature glazed doughnuts are now being served in an new way: Creamy ice cream. “Original Glazed Soft Serve Ice Cream” is a new addition to Krispy Kreme’s lineup, made with whole milk and ingredients from the doughnut shop’s “proprietary and secret” signature recipe. Restaurants in 10 US cities will sell the ice cream before it is gradually rolled out to other locations.
