Mayor Jorge Elorza announced Wednesday that all of the city’s water parks will reopen on Monday, June 27, while public pools are slated to open on Tuesday, July 5. The water parks will be closed on the Fourth of July, officials noted.

On Friday, elected officials joined local leaders to unveil the 12,000-square-foot facility run by the Southside Community Land Trust, a nonprofit organization founded more than 40 years ago to establish the first community garden in the area.

PORTSMOUTH – The Portsmouth Historical Society announced the selection of Emma Stratton as executive director. She joins the Historical Society after five years as executive director of the American Independence Museum in Exeter. Stratton brings 15 years of historic house and history museum experience to her new post with the Portsmouth Historical Society, which includes the John Paul Jones House Museum in downtown Portsmouth.

NORTON — Great Woods Symphony Orchestra will perform a free concert of classical and pop favorites at 7 p.m. Thursday in the garden behind Wheaton College’s President’s House. Park in Lot 1 by entering from Mansfield Avenue (Route 140). Donations of canned goods will be collected for the Cupboard of Kindness Food Pantry before the concert.

NEWPORT — Tyler Rosenberg first started scooping ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s the summer he turned 14 years old. Fast forward a little more than a decade, and he’s a franchisee two times over.
