FILE - The oldest of Moscow's McDonald's outlets, which was opened on Jan. 31, 1990, is closed on Aug. 21, 2014. McDonald’s says it's started the process of selling its Russian business, which includes 850 restaurants that employ 62,000 people. The fast food giant pointed to the humanitarian crisis caused by the war, saying holding on to its business in Russia “is no longer tenable, nor is it consistent with McDonald’s values.”

How does this work? An ice cream shop in Milton is hosting a “customer appreciation day” this weekend. The community is invited to the Baskin-Robbins, located at 1065 Bronte St. South, for a customer appreciation day on Saturday, May 14, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event will feature “sweet” promotions to celebrate the new ownership of the location.

The City of Janesville isn’t the only municipality responding to the recent heat wave by opening up popular water attractions. Beloit Director of Strategic Communications Sarah Lock says the splash pads at Summit and Vernon Parks are now open. Lock says City crews are also working on getting the water feature at Turtle Island playground going for the season.
