Met our expectations and then some. Lincoln is larger than life. The reminder of the history was overwhelming. Full review by Kmusikgal

Certainly a must do while in DC. Definitely add it towards the top of your list as it’s something you won’t want to miss. So peaceful and beautiful. I could have sat on the steps for hours soaking it… Full review by lazydayz_2002

The best part of my trip to DC was stopping here. It’s actually a lot bigger inside than I was expecting so it was easy to get a good view of the statue even though there was a lot of people in there… Full review by cvon27

Honestly, take the metro into town and get off at the Smithsonian stop. That places you roughly in the middle of the National Mall. They have a red bus called the DC circulator that you can ride for free and it will take you to all of the major stops. Or you can take a stroll around to see all of the monuments and museums.

Hi, We will visit Washington this summer. How long did you take at each monument? We are staying close by so will probably start out really early to try and avoid the main crowds! We have to be at the Capitol Building for 10:15 and would like to get Lincoln, Korean, Vietnam and Washington monuments seen before that. We hope to be at the White House (just to take a picture and not stop) for 8:00. Do you think that would be sufficient time? We will be on foot but are all fit and healthy! Thank you! Bev

My opinion is No, that's not enough time, 20 minutes at each place is like running from place to place without actually paying much attention to what is there. I suppose, depending on how you sightsee, you could run up to it look it over quick, run to the next Monument. But I like to take it all in, walk around, read the information that is posted. I can't imagine being able to read anything about each place you are seeing at the speed with which you want to go. So I guess it depends on what you want to get out of it. Do you want to just look at the pretty building and keep moving? If so, sure, you can see all these things in that time. If you want to get more out of the experience while learning about each place... .you will need to allocate more time. Enjoy your visit!

Pretty tough to get them all in. Worth researching, pick your top 3 or 4 and go from there if time allow. The Museum of natural history, Lincoln memorial, with the view of the mall, right next door to the Vietnam wall, and the Botanical gardens are great stops on your way. Also fun to buy a knock off Rolex a block from the Whitehouse ;0)
Q:
Are the roads from Toronto to D.C. good for driving?
A:
That’s a very long drive! But yeah is possible
Q:
Where do you park to view these memorials and monuments? What do you recommend?
A:
We found a parking garage for the day which enabled us to peaceful walk around all day with no worries
