We took my father to the Yorkshire air museum as he was an ex Javelin pilot, and we knew they had one on display. Even better was that it was one he had actually flown. What made the day even more … Full review by Ian K

Really interested in visiting. Is it a guided visit or can we walk about at our own pace. Thanks
A:
As far as I can remember I don’t think there is a guided tour. Whenever we have visited, we’ve just walked around at our leisure. You can spend as long as you want at each section.
Q:
I remember finding information about sgt Hannah. VC. . Are those records still available?
A:
Not sure but I would think so. I know the Hannah story and there is a VC gallery on the right as you enter the Restaurant building. Should be in there. paul

Although there are a large number of static aircraft exhibits outside in the open there are a number of indoor exhibits of aircraft and a number of buildings with presentations dedicated to the air gunners etc and the bombing campaign which would fill all day on a rainy day. The control tower is another must see exhibit with explanatory audio guide?

I would estimate a 20 to 25 minutes drive. All depends on the traffic in York city centre. I'm not a wheelchair user but I'd say the Air Museum is very wheelchair friendly. The staff are …
