We stopped since we were close by and we had a very good visit. The museum is very well done and very informative. The open house tours of both houses were great. Guides were knowledgeable. Full review by I4231XIrichardh

We will be driving through on the way to Oklahoma. On a tight schedule to get to our final destination. Is it worth just stopping for 30 minutes or so?

You could probably see the museum (with Pa's fiddle and Laura's manuscripts and clothing and desk, etc) in that amount of time. You wouldn't be able to manage the house tour--that took about 45 mins on its own. Skip the video. You could possibly squeeze in the self-guided rock house tour since it's small and self-paced (you could do it quickly) on your way out. You can easily see the outside of the farm house. We only had about 1 1/2 hours on our trip home from Oklahoma, and we managed to squeeze in everything with 3 kids. If we hadn't done the video and had rushed a little more, we could have probably done it in slightly less time. The staff are SUPER friendly and will give you suggestions too. Bottom line, if you're a Little House Fan, this is the best of the sites I've been to and worth whatever time you can give it.
How do I get there using public transportation? Does the campground have cabins or equivalent accommodations to rent? Is there shuttle service between town and the museum?
A:
This is a very rural area, so there is no public transportation.
