Love Chapel’s free mobile food pantries this calendar year could see a fourfold increase by September compared to early 2022, according to organizers. That projection is further evidence that food insecurity in Bartholomew County continues to grow.

Jasper - Culver's is bringing a fast-casual dining option to Jasper, breaking ground on Monday, and eyeing a Fall 2022 opening date. The Laskowski family, no strangers to Southern Indiana and Jasper, is bringing Culver's to Dubois County. The husband and wife team of John and Alice Laskowski own and operate Culver's franchises in Bloomington and Seymour.

It takes awhile to come back after shutting down a business for any amount of time. It's something that Trailhead Pizzeria has had to deal with, as have many other restaurants throughout the Bloomington area. Trailhead Pizzeria reopened after the pandemic on April 23 but hasn't been able to bring back all of the customers' favorites.

After a successful open house for Bloomington Brewing Co. on May 26 — a Thursday — owners Amanda and Jarrod Franklin decided to do it again as a monthly Thirsty Thursdays event, with the first happening 5-9 p.m. June 23. "It was amazing," Amanda Franklin said recently. The open house at 2234 W. Industrial Park Drive gave people a chance to tour the brewery, talk with the head brewer Zech Algood, buy beer and merchandise and purchase food from the Chocolate Moose and La Poblana food trucks.
