With the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show continuing in Tarrytown this week, local businesses are receiving a big opportunity to get a summer boost. More than 3,000 dogs entered in the competition, which means tens of thousands of breeds, handlers, staff and spectators are staying, eating and exploring Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.

Ten home cooks from different regions of the U.S. will share their stories, cultures and recipes in a new PBS eight-part competition series “The Great American Recipe." Scarsdale native Leah Cohen is one of the judges. Cohen is a chef and owner of the acclaimed New York City restaurants Pig & Khao and Piggyback NYC.

Puente Pub is now open in the Unionville section of Farmington, bringing what owners Luis and Kerry Vazquez call "American-Latino" fare to the area. The restaurant opened earlier this month at 81 South Main St., following the closing of Taprock Beer Bar & Refuge . Puente will offer a mix of Latin American cuisines, with dishes featuring Puerto Rican, Spanish, Mexican, Argentinian, Cuban and Venezuelan flavors, Vazquez told Hearst Connecticut in May.

A new fast-casual rotisserie chicken restaurant will soon open in Fairfield County. Wildacre Rotisserie is set to make its debut in Greenwich on Thursday, June 23, according to representatives. The eatery is located at 147 East Putnam Ave. in the Greenwich neighborhood of Cos Cob, and it will be led by Fairfield County resident Ben Pote, who has more than a decade of experience in the restaurant industry.
