At a Shell station in Silverdale, you’ll also find Unko’s Kitchen where Mark Labalan and his family cook and serve island fare. “Fresh food every day. It's served with aloha, decent prices, great food,” said Labalan, who quit his job with the Washington State Ferries to open this eatery just last March.

The Original Pancake House is officially open in Gig Harbor. It took over the location of the old Harvester Restaurant at 5601 Soundview Dr., which was in business for 38 years. The Harvester closed June 30, 2021 when the former owner, Kirby Tweten, retired. The Original Pancake House opened its doors May 30.
