CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Officials have identified the motorcyclist who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Chesapeake Sunday afternoon.

Police also charged the driver they say caused the deadly crash.

Officers responded to the scene around 12:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Battlefield Blvd., near Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.

Witnesses reported that a red pickup truck ran a red light and hit a motorcyclist and five other vehicles.

The motorcycle driver, 56-year-old Harry Dorfe Jr., died at the scene from his injuries. Three others were sent to the hospital for further medical treatment.

Around 5:15 Sunday afternoon, officials reopened the northbound lanes of Battlefield Blvd. to traffic after being closed for several hours.

The investigation led police to find the pickup truck driver at fault. as a result, police charged 30-year-old Tonya Spaniard with involuntary manslaughter and possession of cocaine. More charges may be pending, police said.

An arraignment scheduled for Monday morning was continued. Spaniard is due in court on April 29.
