Paul Prudhomme’s Legendary K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen Selling Prized Restaurant Artifacts

Four months after K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen closed its doors for good, the French Quarter institution is giving fans the chance to purchase artifacts from the restaurant that put Cajun and Creole cuisines on the map.

The items include skillets, silverware, custom-made bread baskets, wine lists, and even ceiling tiles, and are currently for sale on the restaurant's website, KPauls.com.

The 16-inch skillets, which perhaps cooked Chef Paul Prudhomme’s legendary blackened redfish, are being offered for $70. The breadbaskets, created to hold K-Paul’s famous jalapeño cheddar yeast rolls, are available for $75. We’re particularly intrigued by the 26” x 50” ceiling tiles, which depict the recipes for some of Prudhomme’s most famous dishes in cartoon form. While the actual ceiling tiles are limited, prints of the artwork are also available in three sizes.

These Louisiana cuisines are two of a kind.

Paul Prudhomme and his wife Kay opened K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen, a tiny 62-seat restaurant on Chartres Street, in 1979 after he left Commander’s Palace. The eatery was an overnight sensation, turning Prudhomme into a national celebrity. He ran K-Paul’s until his death in 2015. His niece Brenda and executive chef Paul Miller helmed the restaurant until COVID-19 forced it to close permanently in July.
