Famed U.S. television producer Norman Lear’s 8.29-acre estate in Los Angeles has been relisted for just under $40 million.

Located in Brentwood, the property offers a nearly 14,000-square-foot main house, plus a three-bedroom guest house and a 35-car garage, according to the listing. Unobstructed views of the ocean, city and canyons can be seen from the home, as well as the landscaped ground surrounding it.

The estate was listed on Oct. 24, but it’s not the first time it’s been on the market. It was listed in late 2016 for $39.95 million, but removed in September 2017, according to property records. It was also up for sale for $55 million in September 2015. The price was reduced to $49 million in July 2016, but removed from the market soon after.

Mr. Lear, 97, purchased the property in 1988 for $6.5 million, according to records. He did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Mr. Lear has been active in the entertainment business since the 1950s, and was behind iconic television shows such as “All in the Family,” “The Jeffersons” and “Sanford and Son.” He also worked on movies like “Stand by Me” and “Princess Bride.” He has been a political activist and philanthropist, and published a memoir, “Even This I Get To Experience,” in 2014.

The main house has seven bedrooms, eight full bathrooms and four half bathrooms, according to the listing. Built-in gallery-like spaces for art and collectibles and floor-to-ceiling windows can be found throughout the home.

The formal living room has exposed ceiling beams and opens out onto an outdoor terrace. A chef’s kitchen boasts stainless steel appliances, a breakfast bar and a dining nook, and shares an open plan with the family room. There’s also a formal dining room, double-height library and study with cedar walls, according to the listing.

The estate also offers an outdoor pool and lounge area, a spa and fitness center, as well as a private tennis court, according to the listing. Executive staff and security offices are available on site.

Douglas Elliman Joshua Altman and Matthew J. Altman, along with Andreas Elsenhans, are the listing agents. They did not immediately respond to request for comment.

The listing comes as a number of L.A. megamansions are lowering prices, including designer Max Azria’s California compound, which was relisted last week at a $10 million discount. The city's typical listing price had dipped 5.6%, according to an October report released by Douglas Elliman.
