Abilene woman killed, another seriously injured in Taylor County crash Tuesday morning

Staff report

A two-vehicle wreck Tuesday morning about 14 miles southwest of Abilene in Taylor County left one woman dead and another seriously injured, the Texas Department of Public Safety said in a news release.

At about 8:05 a.m., the release said, a Toyota RAV driven by Ellen Daugherty, 53, of Abilene, was heading north on U.S. Highway 277 when it failed to maintain its lane, striking a southbound Hyundai Sonata driven by Aurelia Clark, 47, of Abilene.

Clark was pronounced dead at the scene, DPS said.

Daugherty was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene with serious injuries.

Both women were wearing seatbelts, the release said, and conditions were clear/cloudy and dry.

The crash remains under investigation.
