  • She said she was 'grateful' to be back on YouTube and advised those questioning her return to watch her Red Table Talk interview with Jada Pinkett Smith
  • Olivia never explicitly referred to the scandal or her parents' prison sentences, saying she doesn't 'want to keep rehashing things' for her 'own mental sanity'

  • The video quickly racked up more than 80,000 views, and the comments were positive, with many of her fans welcoming her back to YouTube with open arms
  • Olivia's parents paid $500,000 to get her and her older sister Bella, 22, into the University of Southern California under false pretenses

Olivia Jade Giannulli has officially returned to YouTube after a year-long hiatus following the college admissions bribery scandal that landed her parents Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli in prison.

The 21-year-old influencer, who has 1.86 million YouTube subscribers, hasn't released a video on the platform since December 2019, but that all changed on Thursday when she staged her comeback with a 'daily vlog' revealing what she does all day while quarantining in her Los Angles apartment.

'I am really excited because, obviously, I haven't filmed in a really long time,' she explained. 'I'm just grateful to be back on YouTube, and I'm really excited for you guys to watch this video.'

Olivia said she felt compelled to film the 'little intro' because she didn't want to start the vlog and not address anything that had happened to her and her family.

The YouTube star's parents paid $500,000 to get her and her older sister Bella, 22, into the University of Southern California under false pretenses by claiming they were rowing recruits.

Lori, 56, served nearly two months at the FCI Dublin in California, before being released early in late December. Her fashion designer husband Mossimo, 57, is serving his five-month sentence at a prison in Lompoc near Santa Barbara, California.

Olivia never explicitly referred to the Operation Varsity Blues scandal or her parents' prison sentences. Instead, she told viewers to watch her Red Table Talk interview with Jada Pinkett Smith, during which she said she was 'embarrassed' and 'ashamed' by what her parents did.

'I think I kinda disclosed what I thought I needed to say on there,' she said in her latest video, but then she had second thoughts.

Olivia edited the video to add footage of herself elaborating on her comments about watching the interview, saying she 'didn't want it to come across the wrong way.'

'I don't mean to say that in a dismissive way or a pretentious way. I think what I was trying to get across was that I felt like the thing I wanted to do the most was apologize for so long and I felt like I got to do that at Red Table,' she said.

'So, although I can't change the past, I can change how I act and what I do going forward. I just didn't want anybody to take it the wrong way.'

Olivia stressed that she doesn't think her name is 'cleared' just because she broke her silence and apologized during the interview.

'Just for my own mental sanity, I don't want to keep rehashing things,' she said. 'I just want to move on and do better and move forward and come back and do what I love, which is YouTube.'

The new video featured a rebranded intro that shows Olivia frolicking on the beach, hanging out with friends, getting a kiss from her boyfriend Jackson Guthy, and dancing with her mom.

She noted before the start of her vlog that all of the group shots were filmed before the COVID-19 pandemic. She also included clips from old family movies that show her with her sister Bella and father.

Olivia's daily vlog began with her waking up at 7:45 a.m., though she admitted she usually sleeps later. She explained that filming a behind-the-scenes look at her day for her comeback video seemed like the only choice.

'I feel like there is no other video I could possibly kick off my channel with again besides a vlog,' she said.

She admitted she usually scrolls through her phone when she wakes up, but her New Year's resolution was not to check social media first thing in the morning. The clip continued with her journaling and doing affirmations while in bed.

'I don't even know if it f**king works. I've only done it for two days,' she said. 'But everybody is like once you get in this health wave, you do these affirmations, you're working out, you're moving your body, like you feel incredible.'

Olivia also candidly noted that she has never been able to do any of these things for more than three days before quitting.

When she was done, she got up to feed her German Shepherd Milo, whom she adopted in January 2020, and make herself coffee. She painted her nails and then made herself breakfast: a fried egg and a slice of toast with butter.

The influencer cuddled with her dog some more before changing into a sports bra and leggings to walk on a treadmill at the gym in her apartment building, wearing a mask, of course.

After she showered, she spent two hours film an upcoming video for her channel, which appeared to be a beauty tutorial.

Olivia ordered a salad with chicken, avocado, celery, and lemon-olive oil dressing for lunch and spent the rest of the afternoon editing her new videos, which was apparently more tedious than she remembered.

'It's so worth it, and I feel really fortunate that I even get to call this a job, so no complaints,' she said. 'It's just I forgot how to do it.'

She put her pajamas back on just as the sun went down, this time opting for a baggy black long-sleeve romper.

Olivia cracked open a bottle of Corona while making her dinner of roasted chicken, broccoli, and rice. She ended up burning the broccoli, so she replaced it with avocado and seaweed.

The YouTuber followed up dinner by washing her face with Osmosis Beauty Gentle Cleanse ($39), which she found out about after Alicia Keys recommended it in a video. She then applied a Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask ($50) to her face and a Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask ($22) to her lips.

She ended the video by reflecting on how happy she is to be back to creating content for her YouTube channel.

'It is true. When you do stuff you love and that makes you happy you can feel that physically,' she said. 'It's crazy.'

The video quickly racked up more than 80,000 views, and the comments were overwhelmingly positive, with many of her fans welcoming her back to YouTube with open arms.

'This is why I kept post notifications on for 2 years. I'm sorry for what happened but I am glad you learned from it and you're using your name now to promote good,' one person wrote.

'I’m no way disregarding the severity or the privilege/ entitlement of what you did, but I forgive and I’m so glad to have you back on YouTube,' someone else commented. 'I love your videos so much and have been rewatching them!'

When Olivia appeared on Red Table Talk last month, she awkwardly admitted that when the scandal first erupted in 2019, she couldn't understand 'why people were mad' that her parents had cheated her way in.

'When all this first happened and it became public I remember thinking, "How are people mad about this?" It sounds so silly but in the bubble that I grew up in, a lot of kids' parents were donating to schools.

'It's not right, but it was happening. So at first, I was like, "I don't really understand what's wrong with this. I was like, "This is what everybody does and my parents work really hard."'

Giannulli's mother and father (pictured in 2019) both served time in prison for their involvement in Operation Varsity Blues, a massive nationwide scandal

Crime: Olivia's parents Lori and Mossimo Giannulli paid $500,000 to get her and her older sister Bella, 22, into the University of Southern California under false pretenses

Her parents claimed she and her older sister Bella were were rowing recruits as part of their bid to bribe their way into the prestigious school

Controversy: In April, prosecutors revealed images of Lori and Mossimo's daughters posing on rowing machines as part of their bid to bribe their way into the prestigious school

Gianulli (pictured with her parents at her high school graduation) was a successful YouTuber and influencer at the time, but she was dropped by major brands after the scandal broke

Doing time: Lori, pictured at Olivia's high school graduation, served a little less than two months in prison, while Mossimo is serving a five-month sentence

She was savaged by Pinkett Smith's 67-year-old mother Adrienne who admitted at the start of the show she didn't want Olivia to have a seat at their table because she felt she was using 'three black women' for her redemption story.

'There is no justifying or excusing what happened,' Olivia said. 'What happened was wrong. Every single person in my family can be like, "That was messed up. That was a big mistake."

'But I think what's so important for me now is to learn from the mistake and not be shamed and punished and never given a second chance.

'I am 21. I feel like I deserve a second chance to redeem myself, to show I've grown.'

Olivia revealed on her Instagram Stories earlier this week that she would be returning to YouTube with new content.
