The Salina Journal

Jewell County Community Foundation has awarded Smoky Hills PBS a $500 grant to provide books to children enrolled in preschool at Rock Hills Elementary in Mankato. The grant will also support children’s programming in Jewell County.

Larry Calvery, general manager of Smoky Hills PBS, said, “At Smoky Hills PBS we are dedicated to educating the youth within our viewing area and we want to thank the Jewell County Community Foundation for partnering with us in this mission. The foundation makes it possible for the children of Jewell county to receive the tools they need for a great education.”

Since 2018, Jewell County Community Foundation has built stronger communities and helped donors make a difference through charitable giving in Jewell County. Each year, the foundation distributes thousands of dollars back to the region through community grants.

Smoky Hills PBS serves 71 counties in central and western Kansas and has been named Kansas Association of Broadcasters Non-Metro Station of the Year. More information on Smoky Hills PBS and its programs and projects is available at www.SmokyHillsPBS.org or by calling 1-800-337-4788.
