Meet Britain's wackiest invention: an instant freeze microwave.

Making ice cubes, freezing ice lollies and chilling beer or wine in seconds are all possible with the Freezer-wave.

The Odd Invention Challenge - run by curiously-flavoured spirits company ODDKA - hoped to test creavity and wackiness in the British public.

It crowned Emma Maskery winner with her Freezer-wave invention.

Inventor Colin Furze brought her idea to life by creating a prototype of the microwave.

At first glance, it appears to be just a normal microwave, but when you flick the freeze switch, cold air is pumped in through CO2 canisters on the back, chilling the food inside.

"I was sitting at home on a hot day and had a light bulb moment when it came to the Instant Freezing Microwave," said Ms Maskery. "Winning £5,001 and actually having my invention made is incredible, and hopefully it’s the start of an Instant Freezing Microwave revolution!"

The Freezer-wave beat over 400 entries, including a Karaoke shower, two-way toothpaste and a talking spoon.
