Linda Smith, 70, of Unionville, passed away peacefully on April 25th, 2019, with her loving family by her side.” She was born to the late Thomas F. and Emily (Knibbs) Knight, January 31st, 1949, in Hartford, CT. Linda was a lifelong resident of Unionville and graduated from Farmington High School in 1967 before beginning her career as a paralegal. Linda is survived by two children: Amy Martin and her husband Chris of Middletown and Michael Smith and his wife Katie, of Bondurant, IA. She is also survived by five beloved grandchildren; Haillie, Eamon, Grainne, Thomas and Quinlan, her two brothers, Thomas Knight and Lois Sayward of Jacksonville, FL and Barry Knight and Charlene Rogers of Burlington and seven nieces and nephews, whom she adored, Heather, Geoff, Krista, Jessica, William, Robert and Alison. Linda was predeceased by her brother William Knight of Unionville. Linda loved her job as a paralegal at Steinberg & Cathcart, where she worked for 20 years. Her greatest pride and joy was her family, who she loved to spoil. She was an avid reader, a skilled knitter and never missed an episode of Law & Order. Linda grew up in a racing family and enjoyed attending the races at Riverside and was a NASCAR fan throughout her life. She was a social butterfly with a large circle of friends that she enjoyed spending her time with. Linda was a caring, compassionate and generous woman who was loved by many and a mother to all. The Family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude and deepest appreciation to the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and Staff in the ICU and 8-7 at St. Francis Hospital. A wake will be held on Monday, April 29th, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Ahern Funeral Home 111 Main St., Rt. 4 Unionville. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 30th, 2019 at 10:30 AM in the Ahern Funeral Home immediately followed by graveside service and burial at the St. Mary’s Cemetery on Huckleberry Hill Rd in Avon.
