A 46-year-old Connecticut man was found dead two days after his arrest on Tuesday for engaging in "sexual conduct" with a child in Poughkeepsie.

That's according to Connecticut State Police who said they responded to a Farmington residence at 4:21 p.m. to the report of an "untimely death," of Eric J. Fenyes.

"The manner (of death) is suicide and gunshot wound to the head," said Dawn Garcia, a processing technician with the Connecticut Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

He was due in Town of Poughkeepsie Court on Friday at 9 a.m. after New York State Police said he met the victim, who was younger than 15 years old, in a Town of Poughkeepsie hotel in November 2019.

He faced a felony charge of second-degree criminal sex act. He was arraigned in Town of Pleasant Valley Court and sent to Dutchess County Jail in on $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond.

A jail spokesman said Fenyes posted bail on Tuesday and was released.
