ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — A man who was found dead inside his home in Castro Valley on Monday was identified by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office on Thursday as 68-year-old Troy Schwenk, a park craft specialist with the East Bay Regional Park District.

Sheriff's deputies found Schwenk lying on the floor of his home in the 19900 block of San Miguel Avenue at about 3 p.m. Monday when they went there to conduct a welfare check requested by friends who had not heard from him, sheriff's officials said.

The deputies then determined that Schwenk was dead from injuries consistent with a homicide.
