Habitat Restoration Planned For Lighthouse Beach Area In Evanston

The city is set to begin several weeks of habitat restoration work on Monday.

The City’s Forestry and Greenways Divisions will be completing habitat restoration work in an area encompassing a portion of the Lighthouse Beach dunes and Harley Clarke Mansion Council Circle. Work will begin January 21 and will continue over several weeks, weather permitting.

The project will include removing dead and dying ash trees, volunteer trees, and other non-native trees and vegetation. Crews will also address soil erosion around the Council Circle. Work will not expand onto the Harley Clarke Mansion manicured grounds. (View photos.)
