“Star Wars” fans will have to do without actor Mark Hamill, who stood behind his principles rather than voicing a character in an animated short for the holiday season. One of those principles apparently includes not showing up where he isn’t invited.

A fan wondered why the 69-year-old actor didn’t reprise his role as Luke Skywalker in the new Disney flick that premiered last month.

“Did you not play the voice of Luke in Lego Star Wars because you didn’t want any part of another holiday special or?” a “Star Wars” fan asked on Twitter.

Hamill gave that curious supporter a couple good reasons.

“I did not play the voice of Luke in the Lego Star Wars Holiday Special because: A) I didn’t want to risk tarnishing the legendary status of the original, AND: B) They didn’t ask me to.”

He added the hashtag “True Story.”

Hamill originated the role of Jedi knight Luke Skywalker in 1977 and most recently revisited it in 2019’s “Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.”

He also infamously played the space-age swashbuckler in the critically panned “Star Wars Holiday Special” in 1978. According to Hamill, he hasn’t seen that film.

“Happy Star Wars Saturday! The Star Wars Holiday Special aired this day 40 years ago!” a sci-fi fan site tweeted in 2018. “Have you seen it?”

Hamill responded, “Not all the way through.”
