CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Friday morning brought a severe storm with heavy winds and fast-moving rain showers.

POWER LOSS

Many woke up in the dark Friday morning. 35,000 or so FirstEnergy customers in Northeast Ohio are without power as of 11:30 a.m., according to their outage map.

Cleveland Public Power shared this update as crews work to restore power to approximately 620 customers:

TRAVEL IMPACTS

Drivers must be on the lookout for fallen trees and utility poles. The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) reported closures and delays Friday morning across multiple counties. Stay alert on less-traveled, rural roads.

Remember: If your windshield wipers are on, your headlights should be on. Adjust driving speeds when rain impacts road visibility.

Cleveland Division of Fire issued a warning to stay away from wires after a tree fell onto a car on Rustic Road.

An Elyria home is damaged after trees fell on the garage during heavy winds.
