As bad as it was this morning, the weather actually brought out the good in some people.

When a big, old tree came down in Jacquie Williams driveway and blocked her in, her neighbors came to the rescue.

Her giant Bradford Pear tree, which had stood in her front yard for more than 40 years, was no match for the freezing rain.

"This morning around 8:15 I heard a big crack," said Williams. "I had just talked to my sister about how pretty it was."

With nowhere to turn, Williams reached out to 6 On Your Side.

"I have to thank (ABC6 reporter) Mike McCarthy especially, cause he's the one I initially texted," she said.

Williams neighbors wasted no time getting to work. Matt Sharp, armed with a chain saw, and an army of friends sawed off branches, chopped limbs, and rolled the yard waste to the curb.

The team trudged on, despite the freezing drizzle, and the job was finished a short time later.

"I can't thank channel 6 and all my neighbors for coming to help me out," she said. "Neighbors helping neighbors. That's what it's all about."
