JOHN W. PATTERSON, a former police chief and City Council member for the city of Apopka during the 1960s, died Saturday, Jan. 28. He was 87.

Patterson of North Lake Avenue was also a retired furniture salesman.

Born in Andalusia, Ala., he moved to Central Florida in 1940. He was Protestant.

Survivors: wife, Billie Faye; son, Copeland Cauley, Jacksonville, Texas; daughter, Tommie Hurst, Apopka; sister, Della Johns, Mobile, Ala.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are being handled by Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, Apopka.

ROBERT E. ANDERSON, 60, North Hudson Street, Orlando, died Saturday, Jan. 28. Mr. Anderson was a diesel mechanic. Born in Orlando, he was a lifelong resident. He was Christian. MITZI BAKER-DIANA, 76, 1404 Lester Drive, Lady Lake, died Sunday, Jan. 29. Mrs. Baker-Diana was a homemaker. Born in New Jersey, she moved to Lady Lake in 1974. MARGARET E. BRAINARD, 92, Highway 44 West, Eustis, died Saturday, Jan. 28. Mrs. Brainard was a retired clerk for Ferran’s and Harper’s stores of Eustis. Born in North Carolina, she moved to Central Florida in 1910. A member of First Church of Christ of Eustis, she also belonged to the Women’s Club of Eustis. Survivors: three grandchildren. BETTY JANE BUHL, 48, Crystal Springs Court, Orlando, died Saturday, Jan. 28. Born in Monroe, Wis., she moved to Central Florida in 1991.
