Is Google glass making a comeback?

As we all know, it’s been quite a while since Google Glass was officially launched – try a decade ago – but its first try fell flat. Now, according to Android Central, it looks like the tech giant is trying its hand at a brand-new pair of smart glasses with Google Assistant programmed right inside.

We got a sneak peek at the new tech on Wednesday, when Google CEO Sundar Pinchai offered a video demo during Google’s I/O developer summit of glasses that capable of translating languages in real time. While they’re just a prototype, Google says the glasses can show live language translations to the person wearing them, CNBC reported.

the new pair of specs look just like a regular pair of glasses with no obvious “smart” styling, Android Central reported.

Sounds like something straight out of a James Bond movie.

So, what does this mean or how does it work?

Well, according to CNBC, someone wearing the augmented reality glasses might be able to understand what another person is saying by reading captions that’ll be presented though the lenses while the other person speaks.

These glasses will make the user capable of understanding any language in the world. Just think of how useful these glasses will be on a vacation abroad!

When exactly can we expect the new tech to drop?

According to CNBC, it’s unclear if Google’s glasses will ever hit the market, but the prototype does provide a sense of Google’s perspective of where augmented reality can be helpful. In other words, there’s no release date or price that has been announced yet.

So, when comes to these new pair of glasses, we’ll just have to wait and see what Google’s next move is.
