“Be The Light” tonight for local grads

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — (KRDO) At 8:20 Wednesday night, lights across two counties will be shining bright for the 2020 graduating class. For one hour people using flashlights, headlights, stadium lights and more will celebrate local graduates during “Be The Light.”

Nearly 50 high school, college and professional stadiums, tourist attractions, hotels, small businesses and city facilities have confirmed their participation in the campaign. Those participants span Fremont and El Paso counties in six cities: Manitou Springs, Colorado Springs, Fountain, Palmer Lake, Monument, Canon City.

Here is a map of confirmed participants. The City of Colorado Springs encourages businesses and residents to post pictures of their lights on social media using the hashtag #BeTheLightCOS along with a congratulatory message to graduates. 

The City of Colorado Springs will participate by lighting up major facilities including Memorial Park, Goose Gossage Sports Complex, the Pioneer's Museum, Cottonwood Creek Community Park and Venezia Park. 

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks, Pikes Peak International Raceway, Rocky Mountain Vibes and school district stadiums are some of the other participants.
