As a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Smith County, unique, locally built children’s playhouses will be available for bids starting Sunday and continuing through Nov. 2.

The six playhouses will be on the T.B. Butler Fountain Plaza in downtown Tyler. They will be delivered and set up on the square from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

This year’s playhouses were built by Black Stallion Homes/Texan Root Homes, Christus Trinity Mother Frances Health System, Garrett and Associates General Contractors, Tyler Independent School District Career and Technology Center, University of Texas at Tyler and Wilhite Landscaping.

“This year we have so many creative designs,” said Rebecca Berkley, Habitat’s director of development. “Everyone in East Texas can participate in the event by bidding in our online auction for their favorite playhouse.

“The highest online bids will continue at our live auction at a ticketed event on Saturday, Nov. 2. The winners will have the playhouse delivered to their location, but it must be within 50 miles of Tyler. Deliveries will take place on Sunday, Nov. 3.”

Tickets to the live auction and dinner can be bought through Tuesday and cost $125.
