I began taking online courses as it's all I could do with my work schedule at the time. I fell on hard times after having surgery for an injury. I lost access to my ability to continue online schooling as a result and once all was settled, I tried to get back with my studies, but was refused any help in doing so. I received conflicting information from various sources at Kaplan. Now I'm in debt due to Kaplan University's incompetent and deceitful staff.

I have 3 degrees and taught 9 different college courses in 2 disciplines and 3 programs in both 2 and 4 year colleges, and I have never come across a 'course' that is more poorly organized (the whole thing is bullet pointed with little cohesion and low comprehensive value). Plus, the wording of the content is likely to confuse because the qualifiers are often misused or overly prevalent in questions, quizzes and course content. Additionally, they have questions formulated where just one word makes the difference in a long, complex question with four long, complex answers. It's as if they are trying to make the question as difficult to understand in and of itself and not as a content-driven review of material. It's sad. Clearly, this course is not developed by anyone with a modicum of pedagogical experience or educational background.

Scheduled a 2-day class, 2 months out, and they cancelled 30 min prior to start time and had no back up instructor. They reschedule for a date, 30 days out, that was dated after my scheduled exam. I called cs and they advised they only have one class a month and no back up instructors. One class a month and one instructor when we only have 3 months to study.. I'm a single mom, I had to get a babysitter for after daycare and took two days off of work to complete this class, to have them cancel 30 min before and schedule me out past my exam date.. after sitting on the phone for an hour with a cs rep (who was really kind).

All they could do for me was add a recorded class (which I now can't ask questions or get clarification on subject details). In order to have access to these recorded courses I have to take another two days off and complete those all day recorded courses to have future access to them. They were going to downgrade my current plan and partially refund me since I paid for a live class, but I would then lose my online study progress, 2.5 months in. I advised that was unacceptable. So I asked if they could just add the course on to my existing plan. So that is what they did, but no compensation.

I'm really not happy how unprepared they were and how they inconvenienced us with no regard to us having to clear our schedules for two whole days. 30 min prior, is unbelievably unprofessional. I understand things happen, but with deadlines they should have a back up instructor to make sure they don't inconvenience paying customers in this way.

To add, the study guide is easy to follow, the terminology is a bit confusing, especially if you're new to the industry. Some of the wording they chose is hard to follow. I paid extra for the quick sheet and flashcards, which are helpful but I had to write a lot of my own answers on the back of the flashcards to make them easier to understand and remember. Studying forms are different for each person, I do better reading out loud and listening to an instructor while following along with written instructions, then reading back over it myself. For my learning type, this program was OK, but not great. The class cancellation really put the nail in the coffin for me.

Kaplan has been an amazing resource used for my preparation in the MCAT. The amount of interactive videos, practice tests, and amazing staff, in particular Kiarra **, makes this a great investment for your future goals.

Unlike the negative reviews I have read here, I had a wonderful educational experience at Kaplan. I initially earned my Associates degree and went back to earn my Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, which allowed me the opportunity to step into the top position within my agency. The professors and instructors were great and in fact, I've become life long friends with a few of them and we continue to keep in touch long after I've graduated. Kaplan as well as any other school, is what you make of it. Put in the hard work and you will reap the rewards of your efforts!

I completed 11 out of 18 courses at Purdue University and was doing well, 7 As, 2 Bs, and 1 course transferred over. That was up until last semester when I received a C. I am presently enrolled and STRUGGLING. Why? Because the remaining courses use random questioning for test. Which means that the exams do not reflect assigned readings for the current units. My first exam covered content from unit 3 and beyond. The problem was that we hadn't even progressed through the first unit.

After speaking with the instructor she explained that test questions were random, meaning that they cover all content in the course. So after reading and studying 6 chapters assigned in unit 1, zero percent of the material was on the exam. It seems to me that one would need to first study the entire courses content in order to do well. Had I been aware of this, I would have purchased the text book and done the readings 3 months in advance. But somehow this doesn't seem fair to students.

Reaching out to instructors is a waste of time. The response I received was that I would be notified of areas for which I needed to focus on. This is a joke! How does that help the horrific grades received for exams that you can't prepare for? Of course at this point I am too far into the program to throw in the towel now. However, I recommend that any nurses looking to advance their education to look into another university. One that is realistic to the working professional and fair! Education requires both time and money. So find out as much as you can about a university before enrolling.

I enrolled during Fall 2003 and took 2 courses. I decided to enroll in a local university and they would not accept these courses as a transfer. I was told that this school is only accredited to itself and if I planned to go elsewhere then I shouldn't have wasted my time with this school. I had to retake the 2 courses that I had taken at Kaplan once I got to the University.

I was impressed with Kaplan at first. Was telling me that upon graduation they would help me with my resume, they would help me locate jobs In my field and even help me apply for them. They are of no help whatsoever! They sure do bug for the money though. I do not think I should have to pay. They did not do their job!!. Two years since graduation and still no help!

After speaking with Haley Carrillo on the phone today, I will never re-enroll in Kaplan again. He was demeaning, invasive, and condescending. From the very start of the phone call he was brief and rude. I had first began attending Kaplan after my son was born and I wasn't working. My grades were excellent and I was named on the Dean's List for most of my terms. Fast forward to when I re-enrolled after a two year break, I received a major promotion at work. All of my time went into work and my son, as I am a single mother NOT on any type of government aid or child support! I failed classes simply for not attending. I am not arguing that today. I take accountability and just wanted the chance to finish up the degree (as of 1 year ago, I was 2 classes away). As Haley made the already obvious so clear in his tone, "You know you still have to pay for the F's though, right?" I'm fully aware, which is why I wondering why I was being berated... I'm paying you!

I don't really think it's in an advisor's position to even talk about what I'm paying for. And I don't think it's in their position to criticize or be rude. Saying things like, "It doesn't matter how many classes you have left; it matters more what the dean will think..." or "You can file appeal, but I can't say they'll even want to work with you." or "Why couldn't you get it together? Just work? Is that it?" The calls are recorded, but I'm assuming this behavior and treatment is passed down through the ranks, so I'm not expecting much out of this. Go somewhere that WANTS to work with you and ADVISE you about what the best path to take is academically. You're supposed to feel empowered and motivated about finishing your academic career!

With a 76 year history and one million students each year, Kaplan University has an established reputation as an exceptional educational provider.

    • Degree programs: Many online colleges only offer certificate or associate degree programs, but Kaplan University goes to a bachelor's degree and beyond.

    • Advanced degrees: If you already have a bachelor's degree and want to pursue your masters, Kaplan has several programs available.

    • On campus option: While possibly best known for their online and distance learning programs, Kaplan has nearly 400 campus locations in 25 countries.

    • Regional accreditation: Not every program is regionally accredited, but Kaplan makes it easy to find out which course of study meets those requirements by putting accreditation information front and center on their website.

    • Nationally accredited certifications: For those looking for direct entry or continuing education opportunities, Kaplan has a range of accredited certification programs across several industries.
