Hays County reports one COVID-related fatality; 112 new lab confirmed cases

HAYS COUNTY COURTHOUSE, TX – Hays County Local Health Department (HCLHD) reports one (1) COVID-related fatality: a Buda woman in her 50s.

The department also reports 112 new lab-confirmed cases along with four (4) new hospitalizations and five (5) new hospital discharges. There are 77 additional persons considered recovered. The total number of persons considered recovered is 26,259. During a routine data audit, HCLHD removed 28 cases due to out of county or duplicate.

The current total of lab-confirmed cases for Hays County since the beginning of the pandemic is 28,175. Hays County has 1,558 active cases. In the past 21 days there have been 2,418 active cases. Hays County has had 1,278 total COVID-related hospitalizations and 43 people are currently hospitalized. Of those, 38 are unvaccinated, which is about 88 percent.
