CASEVILLE, MI - As floats passed by down the main drag of this shoreline community in Michigan’s Thumb, thousands of people cheered then jumped for a chance to grab a necklace, piece of candy or even a freshly cooked cheeseburger being thrown to them.
The Parade of Tropical Fools during the Cheeseburger in Caseville Festival featured costumes, music and cheeseburger-themed hats worn by many. The festival continues through Sunday, Aug. 18.
Hula-hooping in a vibrant tie-dye dress and bold make-up most of the route, Kayleigh Schafer, 13, said she loved being a part of the celebration. Her feet and hips were sore by the end, but hearing people clap made it all worth it, she said.
If you didn’t catch the parade, take a look at the gallery above for some moments from the event.
