PARTICIPANTS taking part in the eagerly-anticipated Ironman 70.3 Middle East Championship scheduled to be held on December 10 got a first-hand experience yesterday of the track designed to host the cycling leg.
Setting out from Four Seasons Hotel, over 300 participants took part in the event, spearheaded by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and president of Bahrain Olympic Committee.
“It was a great practice session as it was held on the same track that will host the cycling leg of Ironman Middle East. The main goal was to give the participants a chance to test the track. I believe this has been entirely fulfilled,” said Shaikh Nasser.
Shaikh Nasser praised the Organising Committee members for hosting the practice session.
“The outcome was very positive and it was very beneficial to race today,” said one of the participants Jamal Al Dosseri .
The registration process for the Ironman Championship concluded yesterday with over 1,200 participants in the fray.
